TRANSFIGURATION

TRANSFIGURATION is a nine ink risographic publication printed by CAN CAN PRESS, an independently-run printing press and publishing house in Mexico City. The book brings together 38 color plates based on Aurora Pellizzi’s latest series of sculptural/pictorial wall–hangings made of naturally hand–dyed, felted and woven wool. In keeping with the artist’s investigation of natural dyes and pigments, each plate explores chromatic relationships through the carefully designed layering of the rice–based ink of the ecological riso printing process. Within the square bounds of the page, figure and ground twist, turn and unfold, oscillating between abstraction and figuration.
